Synopsis of the church history:

Wakefield District
was sparsely populated with people and at a strategic spot was a bamboo church where they would worship God. The naming of the church or a denomination was not of priority as people embraced the only place of worship in the community. In fact it was called the People's Church. In 1951 a missionary, Bro Ken Tapper came and join the congregants, got help from abroad and build a concrete structure. They named the church as franchise of the Missionary Band.

Bro. "Tappa" became ill and had to go away. He was succeeded by Pastor K.S. Brown. People walked from as far as Regale and Cascade, a six miles span to church and had to walk back at nights on the hilly terrains because there were no means of transportation. Bro. K.S. Brown pastored the church until in 1960. Rev. Amos King succeeded him and baptismal services were very frequent as souls surrendered to the Lord.

During his tenure missionaries came from abroad and in commemoration of Bro. Ken Tapper. The Good Speed as they were called supported the church in goods and supplies. Rev. Amos King had to travel about a mile to get to church since there were no manse but maintained a good standard as he ministered the gospel until in 1966, he handed over to two female pastors that came from Westmoreland.

Pastors Lucille Pullus and Sheila Gordon carried on the church rich legacy until 1970. They married in 1975, Sheila went back to Westmoreland and Lucille stayed with her husband David Molley until he graduated from Bible school 1976.

Pastor Lucille Molley handed over to Pastor Edwards but shortly after he had migrate to Clarendon, then Rev. Alexander Robinson had to carry on the ministry.  A new church is now in the community and as their drums beat the membership of the now Wakefield Wesleyan Holiness Church reduced drastically.  Notwithstanding the challenges he was able to baptized 22 candidates between 1994 and 1995. Pastor "Robb" served until 1996 when he was transferred to Mahoe Wesleyan Holiness Church.

The church has had pastors including the late Lay Preacher Vincent Holgate and their involved in District events over the years marked a striving church. Rev. Lydia Crooks who was pastoring Winsor Castle Wesleyan Holiness Church reigned until 2014 then Rev. Linton Howell to 2018, he too had another church Cascade Wesleyan Holiness Church.

Since 2018 Deacon Uken Thomas a dedicated member has been the Lay Preacher. He got saved in 1975 under the stewardship of Pastor Lucille Molley and Bible students who came from Westmoreland assisted her. He experienced the tides and stillness of the church. He oversight its renovation, building of a canteen, fenced around the church property and paint the building.
